Odyssey is a production Kelly Peterson 44, diesel auxiliary, cutter-rigged sailboat. It was designed by Doug Peterson and built in 1977 in Yu Ching, Taiwan, R.O.C.

Hull & Deck:
Fiberglass deck and non-skid (never had a teak deck).

Folding teak cockpit cocktail & hors d’oeuvres table.
Bottom prepped and 6 coats of Interlux 2000E epoxy barrier coat applied below the waterline to prevent blisters.
Custom designed stainless steel stern arch (built by Garhauer) holds 2 135-watt solar panels, an Aerogen 6 Wind Generator (the blades are not installed), an AIS, Satellite Radio, and GPS antennas.

Engine Room:
Auxiliary is a Perkins 4-154, 4 cyl, 60 hp, diesel, serial number: 154U27343.
Injector pump and injectors were rebuilt April 2004. Front seal was replaced in 2010. The engine is fresh-water cooled through a seawater heat exchanger with wet riser exhaust discharging through the transom. Engine location is aft below the cockpit. Good access through engine room doors located in the starboard hallway between the main salon and aft cabin. Access is also provided through the port cockpit seat locker. Transmission is a Borg Warner Velvet Drive.
The engine compartment also contains a Seaward 11-gal 110vac/engine heat exchanger water heater (tank replaced in 2009), a PUR Power Survivor 80II water maker, a Heart Interface Freedom 7 inverter/charger and 2 Isotherm compressors for a cold plate refrigerator/ freezer system. Two automatic bilge pumps are located in the bilge, one is aft of the engine and the second is in the main salon forward of the galley.

Tankage:
Fuel:  The vessel carries 118 gallons of diesel in 2 mild steel tanks.
Water:  The vessel carries 125 gallons of water in 3 stainless steel tanks.
Waste:  There is one molded polyethylene waste holding tank, 20 gallons with deck pumpout.
Additional Tanks:  There is one 25 lb. propane tank secured in the port cockpit seat locker. A remote control safety shut-off solenoid is installed in the locker and the locker is vented overboard. Also attached to starboard aft toe rail is a 25 lb. aluminum BBQ tank.

Electrical Systems:
There are four (4) 6-volt, deep-cycle batteries, in 2 banks, for the ship’s 12-volt power and for the engine starting battery (all batteries new in 2012). All are secured in acid-resistant fiberglass bins located in the bilge area below the companionway ladder. All batteries can be charged by the 120-amp engine alternator, or the solar panels, and the Heart Interface Freedom 7 inverter/charger.
An 110-vac power system is also provided which can utilize the inverter/charger or shore power hookup as a source.

Electronics and Navigation Aids:
In addition to conventional running lights, ship’s clock (new mechanism in 2010 [Weems & Plath]), barometer [Weems & Plath] and bell, the vessel is equipped with the following:

COMPASS:                   (1) Ritchie 6’, binnacle mounted.
    (1)  Ritchie, on bulkhead at nav station.

VHF RADIO:                  ICOM IC-M502 at nav station with cockpit microphone. ICOM IC-M10A handheld transceiver).

HF TRANSCEIVER:      ICOM 718 Pactor II pro e-mail modem (new in 2004). ICOM  autoturner AH-4.

GPS RECEIVER:          Garmin 128 with RS 232 serial Port to USB, connection to laptop.

AIS RECEIVER:            Milltech Marine also has serial/USB connection to computer.

RADAR:                        FURUNO 1715 LCD Display (new in 2007).

AUTOMATIC PILOT:    CETREK Powerhelm 770, cockpit.

STEREO/CD PLAYER: Kenwood KCD-M245 stereo/CD with iPod jack
                                    Bookcase speakers in main Salon and aft cabin.

Deck Equipment and Sails:
Aluminum mast and boom manufactured by SeaTek and an aluminum downwind/spinnaker pole.
Standing rigging is 3/8” stainless steel wire with stainless steel turnbuckles and running rigging is polyester double braided line. All chain plates were pulled, inspected and re-bedded in 2003. The rig is a keel-stepped, double spreader, masthead. Cutter. The headsail is ProFurl roller furling and the cutter sail is hanked on.
Staysail stay is attached by means of a hayfield lever. There are full double course vinyl covered stainless steel lifelines with stainless steel bow and stern pulpits. Step-away fold-up stainless steel boarding ladder is installed on the starboard side. Custom 3” cockpit cushions. Sail covers, dodger, hatch covers and related trim in Oyster sunbrella. Custom sunbrella covers protect the teak toerails and handrails. ShadeTree boat awning, color pearl for aft of mast.

SAIL INVENTORY:     Voyager loose-footed main sail, 9.6 oz Dacron with 3 reef points, and full battens (new in 2011).
A new Tidetrack slide from Tidetrack Marine was also installed in 2011.

Accommodations:
Interior accommodations provide berthing for up to seven (7) persons in a forward v-berth stateroom, convertible settee and separate settee berth in the main salon, and a double stateroom aft. The galley is equipped with a double stainless steel sink and Force Ten propane gas 3-burner stove with oven (new in 2006). Built-in separate freezer and refrigerator have their own 12-volt Isotherm Compressor. There are two (2) enclosed heads with lavatory sink and marine toilet. The forward head is equipped with hand-held shower sump pump. The vessel is also equipped with hot and cold domestic water powered by SHURflo water pump and pressure storage tank and a Power Survivor 80II RO water maker. A Magna stainless steel gas barbecue is mounted on a starboard stanchion.
Main companionway step hinged with custom SS brackets for complete access to freezer (see pictures).

Tender:
Avon 3.15 inflatable dinghy with roll-up floor and 2 hp 4-stroke Honda outboard engine, dinghy chaps and dinghy wheels.

Other items of note:
            Stanchion bases were re-bedded in 2007 (drilled over-size holes, filled with epoxy and installed new bolts).
            Galley was rebuilt in 2007. Both the freezer and refrigerator boxes were rebuilt with 5-6” insulation. A separate Isotherm 3701 system with 12v compressors and holding plates was installed for each unit. A new counter top was installed.
            Formica paneling, new faucets, new toilets (Jabsco & Rariton) and all new hoses in both heads in last five years.
            Deck drains were replaced with Scuppers (2 on each side).
            Deck was prepped for painting in 2011.
